If you see too many little square boxes instead of characters, then you should activate or install & activate a Unicode-compliant font. For more information about Unicode (and Unicode supporting products including fonts) visit http://www.unicode.org. We mention two available TTF-fonts: the 'Arial Unicode font from Microsoft' and the 'TITUS Cyberbit Basic' font from the TITUS Languages Project in Germany. (Search the quoted words with a search engine to find any download links for these fonts). Remember to change the font settings of your browser as well after installing one of these fonts. If you see a code like \01\08\\12a instead of an acute accent above overline above
small-letter-a with dot below, then you are looking at the ABIA code for a complex character.
The reason for presenting the ABIA accent code is that we prefer not to omit this information if such a special
character cannot be displayed on a HTML-page.
Each special ABIA code for an accent/special character code consists of one or more backslashes and 2 digits. As for the digits' range: the accents start at 01. But take note that in some romanized Vietnamese records the accent code order reflects the LEFT TO RIGHT order if two or more accents are at the same height. This method is to be discontinued and this material will be revised in the future. HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES: |
